Poui reminds me that it's ok to start over.. yet again

(That reminded me of Charlotte in Sex and the City when she was looking for that book at the bookstore and was embarassed to be looking for a self-help book)

Truthfully, that’s sort of how I feel posting about starting over yet again.

Every year, the poui trees around our country bloom two to three times and when they are in full bloom, they are spectacular and shortly after that, they are completely bare as their flowers all drop to the ground.

But without fail, they will bloom again. How I see it is it's a little metaphor, life has its ebbs and flows. Learns from the ebbs and celebrate the flows.

I’ve started this self-love journey so many times throughout my adult life and each time that I post about it, I think ‘This is quite embarrassing. It never sticks. I never end up losing as much weight as I would like and as a matter of fact, put it all back on and then some.

What people must think of me?’

BUT! then I think, whatever. I’m doing me.

I’ve not done so many things in my life because of what other people must think.

WHATEVER!

I’ve also gotten so many responses from my previous video about self-love that I know posting helps in two ways:

1- there’s a level of accountability that didn’t exist before, so it’s helping me in the long run

2- It’s helping other women feel inspired to jump on the self-love wagon as well so we are all winning

And I say the following, not just for myself but for all the women out there holding back from posting online or from starting that business or dressing how they want.. from doing whatever the hell it is they want:

If you’re the type of person who can watch a woman trying to better herself,

who has failed time and time again but is getting back on that horse and

you judge her for it,

disrespectfully, you’re a piece of shit and should seek mental help.

So I'm celebrating my little wins.

It's been a month since I restarted this journey. I've lost about 6lbs- taking it slow and steady.

Here are the changes I've made so far:

- I drink more water

- I try to get in at least 30 minutes of movement daily. Some days, that's on the treadmill and some strength work and other days, it's doing a dance class from youtube.. I'm trying to keep it fun and interesting for me, so each day, I'm doing whatever it is I feel to do

- I am eating more vegetables and fruit, so really trying to up the quality of my calories.

- I'm journaling more, which is a massive help mentally.

I'm hoping to check in again in a month and post more positive updates.

Anyway, I also got a watch recently that tracks my movement throughout the day and it was going off when I did the following shoot that we did at the Savannah just as the big pink and yellow poui trees in the Hollows were in full bloom. There was a lot of running around with this family and I enjoyed it so much.

During this entire shoot, I just kept looking up at the poui in absolute awe and felt really inspired to write this post.
